From 22 November until 14 February parking will be free on Sundays in Dunfermline. Liberal Democrat Councillor for Dunfermline South James Calder and Aude Boubaker-Calder, Liberal Democrat Candidate for Dunfermline, have welcomed this.
Cllr. Calder had said, “This has been a torrid year for local businesses, but removing Sunday Parking in Dunfermline will be a welcome boost for many.
“For over a year now I have been fighting to end Sunday Parking charges and I am pleased with this progress.
“The dates set mean that it will hopefully drive more customers into our shops over the Christmas period as well as encouraging people to go to restaurants on Valentines Day too.
“Fife Council should go further though and remove these charges entirely. This would protect local businesses and local jobs and I will continue to fight to end these controversial charges.”
Aude Boubaker-Calder has added, "This is welcome for local businesses but more must be done to help them at this difficult time. I hope the Scottish Government will do more to assist businesses affected by us going into Tier 3 in particular."
