The Dunfermline Liberal Democrats have proposed measures to institute 'School Streets' to look into making our streets outside schools safer. These can include restrictions during pick-up and drop-off times.
This would ensure:
- Less traffic outside school gates meaning it is safer for pupils and residents.
- Dealing with pollution issues outside schools so there would be cleaner air.
- Less difficulties in dealing with congestion for local residents.
Unfortunately the Conservatives voted against our proposals and the SNP/Labour Fife Council Coalition watered them down to remove the provisions to deal with pollution and to delay any action.
We the undersigned call on Fife Council to ensure the streets outside schools are safer for all by supporting the Councillor James Calder's School Streets Proposals.
